Twitter

Oh, and I'm currently trying out twitter.com for the first time.
Seems pretty cool.

Here is my account: http://twitter.com/martinrasmusson

Don't forget...

... you heard it here FIRST!

Hey, why don't you check out "my" own garage band!
http://www.myspace.com/shillyshallytheband !

I hope it pleases thee and thy ears!

That time of the year, eh?

You know what they say.

A blog entry per year keeps the apples away. (Or was it the other way around?)

Anyway, I'm still alive. In case any of you loyal followers of my humble blog were starting to think otherwise.

But hey, stay in touch! Don't be a stranger! Like me.. to this blog.. :)

Awesome Netcasts - Part 4

This Week in Tech: TWiT is the flagship of the TWiT network (hence the name). It is a panel of more or less frequent guests who roughly once a week talk about the latest in tech news. These guys have a lot of experience from the tech business and the world of IT. Listening to their opinions in various subjects is truly stimulating. Among others, John C. Dvorak is quite the character. One of my other favorite guests is Kevin Rose.

Awesome Netcasts - Part 3

The Daily GizWiz: This is a daily(!) netcast that Leo makes together with Dick DeBartolo. Dick is one of the original writers for MAD Magazine. Whereas Security Now is a seriously advanced tech netcast, this one has a more laid-back format where Leo and Dick every day talk about a different and fun gadget - usually crazier than really useful. There is no better way to relax than listening to these guys talk about some cool gadget. Laughing is guaranteed.

Awesome Netcasts - Part 2

Security Now: This is a netcast that Leo does together with one of the brightest and most knowledgable persons I know of: Steve Gibson (of course, his knowledge - or interest - apparently does not extend to web design.. seriously dude what is up with that website? ) This guy is just like a sponge of technical facts. The netcast focuses on internet security but he has many other areas of expertise as well. I have listened to every single episode of this netcast and learned massive amounts about how networks and the internet works in many different aspects, as well as just how serious the security threat is against computers on the internet. This is a true wakeup call to anyone out there wanting to know more. This is a weekly netcast.

Awesome Netcasts - Part 1

I would like to take this opportunity to mention a few most excellent sources of information and entertainment that I enjoy more or less every single day. They are all netcasts (or podcasts as many will call them). The medium of netcasts is growing continuously and new ones appear regularly. There is, however, one single master of these netcasts (in my humble opinion), and his name is Leo Laporte. Instead of trying to describe this guy in my own words, here are a few snippets from Wikipedia:

"Laporte currently owns and operates a netcast network named "TWiT.tv." The name is derived from the network's flagship podcast this WEEK in TECH (aka TWiT) which is hosted by Laporte along with a rotating panel of guests usually made up of several other former TechTV employees. This show remains one of the most popular podcasts on iTunes and other podcast subscription services, as evidenced by winning an award at the November 2005 Podcasting Expo in California for the year's best podcast and by its over 280,000 weekly downloads."

I rarely give praise to people for doing anything, but I just don't understand how this guy manages to produce so much quality content more or less every single day of the week. His shows are up to date on current events and filled with interesting news and discussions. I would say that I am an extensive netcast listener. I listen to close to two hours of this stuff every day (on the way to and from work). And almost every single netcast I listen to, is produced and hosted by Leo Laporte. This guy - and the people he surrounds himself with - create just amazingly interesting content.
